Cancellation and Refund Policy
Because most of our work is customized and time-based, refunds depend on the nature and stage of the project. This sets out how.

At KortzLab, we are committed to delivering high-quality digital products and services. Because many of our services involve customized work, dedicated resources, development time, and project-specific deliverables, refunds are handled according to the nature and stage of each Project.
This Cancellation and Refund Policy ("Refund Policy") explains when refunds may or may not be available for services purchased from KortzLab.
1. General Policy
KortzLab provides primarily custom digital and technology services.
These may include:
- Website development
- Web application development
- Software development
- Mobile application development
- UI/UX design
- Branding and graphic design
- E-commerce development
- Automation
- API integrations
- Backend development
- Consulting
- Maintenance
- Technical support
- Other custom digital services
Because these Services may involve work performed specifically for a Client, payments are generally non-refundable once the associated work has started, except where a refund is expressly provided under a project agreement or required by applicable law.
2. Project Deposits
A deposit is required before KortzLab begins work.
For most Projects this is the 40% upfront payment made after the project agreement is signed. The remaining 60% is due after Client review and approval, before handover. A different payment structure applies only where the applicable proposal, quotation, invoice, or project agreement specifies one.
Deposits may cover:
- Project planning
- Research
- Requirements analysis
- Design
- Development
- Resource allocation
- Project scheduling
- Initial setup
- Third-party costs
- Administrative work
Once substantial work has started, the deposit will generally be considered earned and non-refundable, subject to applicable law and any specific written agreement.
3. Cancellation Before Work Begins
If the Client requests cancellation before KortzLab has started substantial work, KortzLab may, at its discretion, provide a full or partial refund.
Any refund may be reduced by:
- Administrative costs
- Payment-processing fees
- Third-party expenses
- Work already performed
- Non-refundable costs incurred for the Project
The applicable Project agreement may contain different cancellation terms.
4. Cancellation After Work Has Started
Once work has started, cancellation does not automatically entitle the Client to a refund.
If the Client cancels a Project after work has begun, the Client may be responsible for payment for:
- Work already completed
- Work currently in progress
- Approved expenses
- Third-party services or licenses
- Resources already allocated
- Milestones already completed
- Other non-refundable Project costs
Any remaining balance or refund will be determined based on the Project agreement, work completed, and applicable law.
5. Client-Initiated Cancellation
If a Client chooses to cancel a Project for reasons unrelated to a material breach by KortzLab, the Client remains responsible for amounts owed for Services performed up to the cancellation date.
Where appropriate, KortzLab may provide the Client with completed work corresponding to amounts paid, subject to:
- Payment of all outstanding amounts
- Intellectual-property terms
- Third-party licensing restrictions
- Project-specific agreements
6. Cancellation Due to KortzLab
If KortzLab terminates a Project without cause and before delivering the agreed Services, KortzLab may provide a refund for any prepaid amount corresponding to Services that have not been performed, subject to:
- The applicable Project agreement
- Work already completed
- Non-refundable third-party costs
- Applicable law
If termination results from a Client breach, non-payment, unlawful request, abuse, or other circumstances described in the Terms of Service, the Client may not be entitled to a refund.
7. Milestone Payments
For Projects divided into milestones, each milestone payment may become non-refundable once work associated with that milestone has commenced or been delivered.
If a Project is cancelled between milestones, KortzLab may calculate any refund based on:
Total amount paid − completed work − work in progress − approved expenses − non-refundable third-party costs.
The final calculation may vary according to the applicable Project agreement.
8. Design Services
For design Services, refunds may generally not be available after significant design work has been completed.
This includes:
- UI/UX design
- Branding
- Logo design
- Graphic design
- Design systems
- Wireframes
- Prototypes
- Visual concepts
Once a design concept or milestone has been substantially developed, the associated payment may be considered earned.
9. Development Services
For software and development Projects, refunds may generally not be available for development work that has already been performed.
Development work may include:
- Architecture
- Database design
- Backend development
- Frontend development
- API development
- Integrations
- Authentication
- Testing
- Deployment
- Infrastructure configuration
- Security implementation
- Bug fixing
- Technical research
Custom development requires dedicated time and resources and therefore may not be reversible once performed.
10. Revisions and Change Requests
A Client's dissatisfaction with a requested change does not automatically create a right to a refund.
Where revisions are included in the Project scope, KortzLab will make reasonable efforts to implement revisions according to the agreed requirements.
Requests that exceed the agreed revision limit or materially change the original scope may require additional fees.
11. Project Delays
A delay does not automatically qualify for a refund.
Project timelines may be affected by:
- Client delays
- Missing information
- Delayed approvals
- Scope changes
- Third-party services
- Hosting issues
- API limitations
- Technical complexity
- Security issues
- Infrastructure failures
- Force majeure events
If a delay is caused primarily by KortzLab, KortzLab will make reasonable efforts to resolve the issue and communicate with the Client.
Any refund associated with a significant delay will be handled according to the applicable Project agreement and applicable law.
12. Bugs and Defects
A bug or defect in a delivered Project does not automatically qualify for a refund.
Where the issue falls within the agreed support or warranty period, KortzLab will generally have the opportunity to investigate and correct the issue.
A refund may be considered where:
- A material defect cannot reasonably be corrected; and
- The applicable agreement provides for a refund; or
- A refund is required by applicable law.
Issues caused by Client modifications, third-party services, unsupported environments, or changes outside the agreed scope may not qualify for free correction or refund.
13. Third-Party Costs
Payments made to third-party providers may be non-refundable.
Examples include:
- Domain registration
- Hosting
- Cloud services
- Premium software
- Plugins
- API usage
- SaaS subscriptions
- Stock assets
- Fonts
- Licenses
- App-store fees
- Payment-processing fees
Where these costs have already been incurred on behalf of the Client, they may be deducted from any applicable refund.
14. Subscriptions and Recurring Services
For recurring Services such as:
- Hosting
- Maintenance
- Support
- Monitoring
- Software subscriptions
- Retainers
the Client may cancel according to the applicable subscription or service agreement.
Cancellation generally stops future billing but does not automatically refund fees for the current billing period unless otherwise stated in the applicable agreement or required by law.
15. Duplicate or Incorrect Payments
If you accidentally make a duplicate payment or pay an incorrect amount, please contact KortzLab as soon as possible.
After verifying the payment, KortzLab may refund the excess amount, subject to payment-provider limitations and applicable processing fees.
16. Unauthorized Transactions
If you believe a payment was made without your authorization, contact KortzLab immediately.
We may request information necessary to investigate the transaction.
Where appropriate, we may coordinate with the relevant payment provider or financial institution.
17. Chargebacks
Before initiating a payment dispute or chargeback, Clients are encouraged to contact KortzLab so that we can attempt to resolve the issue.
Fraudulent or abusive chargebacks may result in suspension or termination of Services, where legally permitted.
Nothing in this section limits any rights you may have under applicable payment, consumer-protection, or other laws.
18. Refund Request Process
To request a refund, contact KortzLab at support@kortzlab.pro, or using the other official contact information published on our website.
Your request should include:
- Full name
- Email address
- Project or invoice reference
- Date of payment
- Amount paid
- Reason for the refund request
- Relevant supporting information
KortzLab may request additional information to verify the request.
19. Refund Review
Each refund request may be reviewed individually.
When determining whether a refund is appropriate, we may consider:
- The applicable Project agreement
- Amount of work completed
- Current Project stage
- Deliverables already provided
- Work currently in progress
- Client approvals
- Scope changes
- Third-party costs
- Payment-processing fees
- Reason for cancellation
- Whether KortzLab materially failed to provide the agreed Services
- Applicable legal requirements
Submitting a refund request does not guarantee that a refund will be approved.
20. Refund Processing
If a refund is approved, it will generally be issued through the original payment method where reasonably possible.
The time required for the refund to appear in your account may depend on the payment processor, bank, card issuer, or other financial institution.
KortzLab is not responsible for delays caused by third-party financial institutions.
21. Non-Refundable Circumstances
Unless otherwise required by applicable law or expressly agreed in writing, refunds may not be available when:
- Work has already been substantially completed
- The Client changes their mind after work has started
- The Client fails to provide required information
- The Client fails to provide timely feedback
- The Client repeatedly changes requirements
- The Client requests work outside the agreed scope
- The Client cancels for personal or business reasons after substantial work has begun
- Third-party costs have already been incurred
- The Client modifies or damages delivered software
- The Client uses delivered work after cancellation
- The Client violates the Terms of Service
- The Client engages in fraudulent or abusive conduct
- The requested refund relates to a third-party service outside KortzLab's control
22. Exceptional Refunds
KortzLab may, at its discretion, provide a partial or full refund in exceptional circumstances even where a refund is not otherwise required.
Any discretionary refund does not establish an obligation to provide the same refund in future circumstances.
23. Consumer Rights
Nothing in this Refund Policy is intended to remove, restrict, or override any mandatory consumer-protection or statutory rights that apply to you.
If applicable law gives you a right to cancel, withdraw, refund, or otherwise obtain a remedy, those rights remain unaffected.
24. Relationship With Other Agreements
This Refund Policy should be read together with:
- KortzLab Terms of Service
- Privacy Policy
- Applicable proposal
- Quotation
- Statement of Work
- Invoice
- Service agreement
- Subscription agreement
- Other written agreements between KortzLab and the Client
If a signed Project agreement contains specific refund or cancellation provisions, those provisions will generally control for that Project.
25. Changes to This Refund Policy
KortzLab may update this Refund Policy from time to time.
When changes are made, the "Last Updated" date will be updated at the top of this page.
For existing Projects, the refund terms agreed in a signed or accepted Project agreement will generally remain applicable unless otherwise agreed.
